Sleep Tapes & Manifestation
All the Different “Techniques”
I’m a big believer that having a good self-concept makes it easier to manifest the things you want. However, it isn’t always easy changing your self-concept, it’s not impossible so that’s a plus, but it isn’t simple either. You can do daily affirmations, journaling, revision, and visualisations, there are so many different ways to help you change your self-concept. However, today I want to focus on one that I believe works really well for me, and that’s sleep tapes. It’s important to play around with different techniques and find what works for you, there is no one right way, at the end of the day the aim of the game is to better your self-concept as that is truly what helps you to manifest and keep your manifestations. A good self-concept goes a long way! But before we move on, let’s have a quick chat about what your self-concept is and why it’s important.
What is Self-Concept
Your self-concept is your subconscious identity, which is your “I AM” - meaning it is the beliefs and thoughts you have about yourself that make up your “I AMness”. And the beliefs you hold about yourself are what influence your behaviours, reactions and thoughts. So if you believe you’re not a loveable person, then that will be what’s true for you and will be reflected by the world around you. So you may have people reject you, never commit to you, never show you they care, or when they do all these things that you want - you push them away, self-sabotage or you get triggered. That is an overly simplified explanation because in reality it isn’t always obvious what your self-concept truly is, and it isn’t only one belief, so it takes some digging to get a better understanding.
For me personally, one of my core words is rejection - so most of my life I felt like no one cared, no one wanted me around, and I wasn’t worthy - which of course led to situations that confirmed these shitty beliefs. It took a lot of self-reflection and self-awareness to figure out what the hell was going on. But when I finally figured it out, everything became a lot clearer, and I was able to understand my triggers and work through them. However, after all the inner work I’ve done, I still have to keep working on my self-concept because honestly, it’s a never-ending journey, sometimes it’s one step forward ten steps back, which is normal with growth and progress. You will be surprised by the discoveries you will make about yourself when you begin your self-concept journey.
Let’s Talk Sleep Tapes
Sleep tapes can be amazing when done correctly. Recording your own affirmations and playing them as you sleep can do wonders for your manifestation journey. It isn’t always easy to listen to the sound of your own voice, but it is a lot more powerful to hear your voice saying affirmations to you. As I stated before, it’s always a good idea to explore and play around with what works for you when it comes to bettering your mindset, and sleep tapes aren’t for everyone - but I definitely recommend that you give this a go, for at least a couple of nights.
I have found that listening to my own recorded affirmations always puts me in a better headspace and I wake up feeling motivated, positive, and feeling kinder towards myself. Last night, for example, I recorded a few new affirmations and played them on repeat as I slept. Funnily enough, in my dreams, one of my affirmations was repeated back to me multiple times - that is a clear sign that my brain was listening to the affirmations even as I slept. And of course, the following day as I was watching Sex and the City, I heard one of the characters say the affirmation. I also watched a TikTok that had my affirmation in it, but the dreams are what got me most excited. Just the fact that the people in my dreams were saying my affirmation back to me blew my mind and confirmed that my brain was focusing on this one affirmation in particular. And even if I don’t believe this affirmation yet - my dreams confirmed to me that if I persist, it will become part of my new self-concept.
What App To Use
The app that I use for my sleep tapes is VLC, you can download it onto your phone. But you will have to record your affirmations in the voice memo app first, and then export the file to VLC. You can put it on repeat all night, there is an option to set a sleep timer, but I would recommend playing it all night if you can. If you can’t fall asleep to the recordings, give it a listen before sleeping, and again when waking up in the morning. It’s a good idea to record around 3 - 5 affirmations, and then persist with this for as long as you can, or until you’re it’s become part of your self-concept and you’re ready to move on to a new set of affirmations.
To mix it up, you can revolve 3 - 5 new affirmations every week. Try to have fun with it and see if it helps. I’d love to hear updates or your stories about this down below!
